Kanye West plans to establish his brand in fashion, fragrance & burgers

The Daily Beast has a great interview with Kayne West’s manager Gee Roberson which really outlines West’s plans to establish his persona as a money making brand name. Although Kanye no doubt has plenty of success in music and plenty of mainstream exposure in the tabloids and press, his business dealings have remained relatively small in comparison to artists such as Jay-Z, Diddy and 50 Cent. But according to Roberson, that’s all about to change.

“It’s safe to say that we’ll be doing more strategic partnerships in areas like fashion and design,” says Roberson. “Music is the foundation for everything Kanye does, but he doesn’t want to be defined only as a musician. He’s really a designer. He designs his sounds, his raps, all aspects of his tour. He wants to do deals where he can have his fingerprints on the product.”

Along with an upcoming fragrance partnership with Parlux and a rumored fashion line with Lanvin, West has just purchased Fatburger franchise rights for 10 additional burger joints in the Chicago area. According to the article, West’s ultimate goal is to “decrease his dependence on music for money.” The first step in making that happen? Stop looking like such a cocky bastard when you are interviewed on talk shows in front of America.
